Training „Increasing the employability of young girls and women through entrepreneurship training, social skills training and career counseling“

From 02.11-07.11.2019. training „Increasing the employability of young girls and women through entrepreneurship training, social skills training and career counseling“ was realised in Vrnjačka Banja, Serbia in organisation of „Urban Stream“ with partner „Veles-Vladičin Han“. The training is part of project „TxeONA – empowered brave authentic“, which is being implemented under the initiative WeB4YES – Western Balkan Civil Society Organizations for Youth Employment Support.

The aim of the training was to empower young girls to build careers, choose orientations, research the job market, find a job, start their own businesses, as well as coping with the modern business environment.

The participants were young girls from rural areas from Braničevo district and Vladičin Han. 19 young girls underwent workshops on social skills training, career building, information seeking, information on the labor market, researching interests, preferences and skills, as well as training in entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial skills, starting their own businesses and developing a business plan.

The training was divided into 3 segments, where participants were informed, educated and practiced in individual topics through each segment. The trainers used different methods of non-formal learning, such as individual, group work and pair work, theater, role playing, educational games, presentation of ideas and public speaking, brainstorming, free and guided discussions, solving tests and tasks, associations, etc.

With knowledge on particular topics, participants acquired the skills of public speaking, conducting job interviews, presenting ideas to investors, presenting a business plan. They have also gained skills on assertive communication, adequate conflict resolution, recognition and response in case of discrimination and mobbing.

After the training, participants will have the opportunity through the mentoring process to elaborate their business plans, go through the process of production, placement and sale of products through the example of a student company, or through a visit to a specific company to learn about the way they work.
