During October 17-19th, 2019 SHFWH has organized the first training of marginalized youth in work skills, namely in "Communication and self-confidence building" as part of its project “Create opportunities for employment and self-employment of marginalized youth” under WeB4YES project – Western Balkan Civil Society Organizations for Youth Employment Support. 

60 marginalized youth of urban and rural areas of Kucove, Albania of age 16-30 years, have participated in the training held by experienced local trainer Vinjola Berhanaj. Youth came from families in need especially from rural families and Roma and Egyptian community.  

The training aimed to inform youth on communication meaning, channels and importance, and also to teach them how to build self-confidence, improve it, and use for improvement of their employability and self-employability.

Training used non-formal learning, mixing PowerPoint presentation with brainstorming, free and guided discussions, exercises and group work to improve youth communication skills.

The participants were informed about process and types of communication; discussed about the importance of effective communication in family, social entourage and workplace; improved communication skills through exercises and team work; recognized concept of self-confidence and difference with self-esteem; brainstormed reasons of low self confidence and learnt techniques to improve self-confidence and become successful in accomplishing roles and duties.   

The training resulted successful in improving youth skills in communication and building self-confidence of marginalized youth. The success of the training was reflected in change of behavior of youth becoming more active and energized to continue training sessions and improve their employability.
